What Happened To NYFW? It’s simply not the same.

Feb 6, 2024

New York Fashion Week (NYFW) has undergone significant changes in recent years, leading many to question what has happened to this iconic fashion event. Long known as one of the most prestigious fashion weeks in the world, NYFW has seen a shift in its landscape and overall atmosphere.
One of the notable changes is the decentralization of NYFW. In the past, most of the fashion shows and events were concentrated in a centralized location, such as Lincoln Center or Bryant Park. However, in recent years, designers have opted for alternative venues and formats, hosting shows in various locations throughout the city. This decentralization has brought a sense of novelty and diversity to NYFW, but it has also made it more challenging for attendees to navigate and experience the full breadth of the event.
Moreover, the influence of social media and digital platforms has significantly impacted NYFW. With the rise of influencers, bloggers, and online fashion communities, the focus has shifted from exclusive industry insiders to a more inclusive and consumer-oriented approach. Fashion brands are now looking to engage directly with their audience through live-streamed shows, social media campaigns, and interactive experiences. While this has allowed for wider accessibility and exposure, it has also diluted the exclusivity and mystique traditionally associated with NYFW.
Additionally, the changing landscape of the fashion industry itself has contributed to the transformation of NYFW. The rise of fast fashion, e-commerce, and direct-to-consumer brands has disrupted the traditional fashion calendar and challenged the relevance of the biannual runway shows. Many designers have chosen to explore alternative methods of showcasing their collections, such as presentations, installations, or even opting out of NYFW altogether.

Is ‘90s Fashion Making a Comeback?

Feb, 7 2024

The '90s fashion trends have been making a strong comeback in recent years. From oversized leather jackets and mini skirts to low-rise denim and kitten heels, many iconic styles from the '90s are resurfacing and becoming popular once again.

Celebrities and fashion influencers have been seen embracing '90s fashion, incorporating elements like high-waisted jeans, crop tops, and grunge-inspired looks into their outfits. Brands have also been releasing collections inspired by the '90s, featuring nostalgic prints, colors, and silhouettes.

The resurgence of '90s fashion can be attributed to a combination of nostalgia and the cyclical nature of fashion trends. People who grew up in the '90s are now adults with disposable income, and they are seeking to relive the styles of their youth. Additionally, younger generations are drawn to the unique and rebellious aesthetic of '90s fashion.

While some argue that the revival of '90s fashion is merely a passing trend, others believe that it has become a lasting influence on contemporary fashion. As fashion continues to evolve, designers and consumers alike continue to find inspiration in the iconic looks of the '90s.

So, what do you think of the ‘90s fashion making a comeback?
